Tried reading a 1974 issue of Spider-Man on the bus and got roasted by a kid

Was flipping through my beat up copy of Amazing Spider-Man #136 on the 42 bus downtown when this 12 year old looked over and said 'dude, that art looks like a coloring book.' I tried to explain it was classic Romita Sr. but he just pulled up some variant cover on his phone. Learned that kids think silver age proportions look totally wacky. Has anyone else had a younger fan clown on your old books?

Caught my buddy Mike trying to read his old Crisis on Infinite Earths at the laundromat and some kid asked him if that was a retro comic from the 90s. Mike almost cried laughing.

Wait, are you actually telling me that kid was wrong though? I mean yeah Romita Sr. is a legend and all, but if we're being real those old comics do look super goofy next to modern stuff. The way they drew people back then was all wonky and the colors were super simple, like a newspaper funny page. Kids today grew up with artists who can actually make anatomy look real, so of course they're gonna call out a comic where Spider-Man's legs look like rubber bands. You gotta admit, if we didn't have nostalgia goggles on, we'd probably laugh at those old panels too. The kid was just being honest, not trying to be a jerk.
