Tried reading a 1992 Spawn run for the first time, got a migraine

Picked up issue 1 through 12 at a flea market in Tulsa for 20 bucks. Thought the art would be cool but the dialogue is so dense I had to reread half the pages. My eyes crossed after three issues straight. Learned that older comics need breaks, they are not binge reads like modern trades. Anyone else hit a wall with early Image stuff or is it just me?

Man I remember grabbing those first Spawn issues back in the day and my brain just short circuited trying to follow the plot. The art was so busy it felt like my eyes were doing gymnastics just to find the speech bubbles. I ended up reading them like one issue a week and that somehow made the whole thing more enjoyable.
