Finally listened to the old timer in Port Angeles about dry gloves
I've been fighting cold hands every winter dive for years. This guy at the shop kept telling me to ditch the wet gloves for a dry glove system with a liner ring. I spent the extra money and tried it on a 38 degree dive last week. My hands were actually warm the whole time. Anyone else have a piece of gear they put off buying that turned out to be worth it?

The dry gloves thing is funny because I used to feel like adding all that extra hardware was just overcomplicating something simple. I was a diehard wet glove guy for years, figured you just deal with the cold and move on with your dive. But after reading this and seeing so many people swear by them, I finally tried a pair on a 45 degree wreck dive last weekend. My hands were toasty the whole time and I could actually work my gear without fumbling. Now I feel like I wasted so many dives being stubborn about it. That liner ring setup is a game changer for sure.

Honestly, I was the same way with a heated vest. I kept looking at the price tag and thinking it was too much for something I could just layer up for. But after one dive where I was shivering so bad I couldn't focus, I caved. Now I won't go below 50 degrees without it. The battery life is solid for two dives too, just make sure you get one with a controller you can adjust underwater.
