Lost a $1,200 job because my comms unit died 30 feet down at the Port of Mobile...
Was doing a hull inspection on a cargo ship and my wireless headset just quit mid-air check... I was flashing my lights like a madman for 10 minutes before they hauled me up. Has anyone else had a cheap comms setup nearly get them killed?

That flashing lights trick is a solid backup plan, but you might want to invest in a whistle for next time. At least the crew wasn't too quick on the winch.
