Old timer told me to always double hose clamp underwater fittings, glad I listened
Was working a salvage job off the coast of Astoria two months back on a sunken fishing boat. My partner said one clamp was fine on a 2 inch line, figured he knew better since he had been diving longer than me. But that old guy from the union hall years ago kept saying always double up in current. Sure enough we hit a nasty surge and that single clamp slipped halfway off. Lost about 20 minutes of air and had to surface early. Cost us half a day waiting on a replacement fitting. Anyone else had a similar close call trusting the wrong advice?

Guess I was wrong for thinking one was enough. That story proves it.

Is my cat the only one who acts like having more than one toy is some kind of personal insult? She gives me the stink eye if I bring home a second one, like I'm cheating on her with a fake mouse.
