Tbh I thought those new heated wetsuit vests were just a gimmick until I did a 2 hour job in 45 degree water last month.

You're totally right, they're a game changer. That cold just gets into your bones after a while and ruins the whole dive. I used to tough it out but it makes you tired way faster. A little bit of warmth lets you focus on the work and not just shivering. It's one of those things you don't know you need until you try it. Now I won't go into cold water without mine.

I get where @jadeg81 is coming from, but I've always just dealt with the cold. Adding more gear feels like one more thing that can go wrong down there. I'd rather keep it simple and just get the job done.
