Unpopular opinion: hot water suits are overrated for most inland work

Was on a bridge pier job in Savannah last August in 90 degree humidity and my hot water suit nearly cooked me alive, went to a drysuit with just a fleece underneath and felt way better. Am I missing something or do we just default too fast to hot water setups even when temps aren't that cold?

and honestly I think the whole industry just defaults to hot water suits cause that's what everyone's always done. I did a bridge job near Charleston last July and had the exact same thing happen, switched to a drysuit with a light wool layer and never looked back.
