Am I the only one who keeps finding bad capacitors in old monitors?
Pulled apart three Dell monitors from 2010 last week and every single one had bulging caps on the power board. Replaced them for like $8 in parts total and they all fired right up again. Anyone else see this pattern with that era of displays?

Oh man, that exact era is like a capacitor graveyard (I swear they used the cheapest parts possible back then). My personal record is four out of five 2008-2011 Dells all having the exact same bulging caps on the power board, usually the little 1000uF ones near the heatsink. Spent like ten bucks on a cap kit from Amazon and fixed the whole batch in an afternoon, which is way cheaper than my therapist would charge for the frustration of wrestling with stubborn solder.

Oh yeah, those little 1000uF caps near the heatsink are almost always the first to go. I've got a whole drawer of salvaged ones from dead boards just for that exact spot on Dell power supplies. It's like they knew exactly where to put the cheapest parts so they'd cook the fastest.
