Appreciation post: My old USB drive came in clutch today
Had a client's work PC totally crap out this morning around 10am - blue screen loop that wouldn't even let me boot into safe mode. I grabbed my cheap 32gb SanDisk drive with a portable Linux install I made 2 years ago and forgot about. Popped it in, booted up, and was able to pull all their files off the drive in about 20 minutes. Saved me from having to explain why they lost 6 months of QuickBooks data. Anyone else keep a random bootable USB around that ended up being a lifesaver?

kept it in my car for years" - did the heat ever mess it up? I always heard stories about car heat killing hard drives in those old iPods, but I also knew people who said theirs survived just fine. Was it one of the click wheel ones or a later model? I had a friend who left her iPod classic in her glovebox through two different summers and it still worked, but I was too scared to try that with mine. Did you ever have any issues with the battery swelling from the temperature changes?
