Found out my BIOS update fixed a weird USB drop issue overnight

I had this old Dell OptiPlex 3020 in a small office near Austin that kept dropping USB connections randomly. Tried new cables, different ports, even swapped the mouse and keyboard. Finally I checked Dell's site and a BIOS update from 2018 somehow fixed it after 3 hours of frustration. Anyone else run into ghost problems that a simple update solved?

@the_nina my buddy's HP workstation did the same thing, bios update fixed his random USB drops too after he bought like 3 new keyboards.

lol yeah I feel your pain, I about threw my keyboard through the monitor after the third time my mouse just froze mid-spreadsheet. What finally tipped me off was that it only happened when I had like 5 things plugged in at once, so I figured maybe the USB controller was just being a drama queen. Honestly the whole thing made me feel like one of those IT guys who just says "have you tried turning it off and on again" except I'm the one with the problem. It's wild how a BIOS update from half a decade ago can make your hardware stop acting like it's possessed.
