I chose Refurb over New for my shop's diagnostic laptop

Everyone in our shop said buy a new Dell Latitude for $1200, but I went with a refurbished ThinkPad from a place in Austin for $450. It's got a i7-8700 and 32GB RAM, runs our dealer software smoother than the new Dells somehow. Had to swap the battery after 6 months but still saved like $700 - anyone else find refurbs hold up better for shop tools?

Glad to hear it worked out for you man. Refurbs are underrated for shop use.

You know what, @the_skyler, you're totally right actually. I used to be one of those guys who thought refurbs were just someone else's broken junk, you know? But then I grabbed a refurbished belt sander for like half price, and it's been running strong for two years now with zero hiccups. Still has that little "refurbished" sticker on it that I'm too lazy to peel off, ha. It honestly changed my whole view on buying used shop gear.
