I hit 50 motherboard repairs this month and had to stop and check myself
I've been doing board-level repair for about 3 years now, mostly for a local shop in Austin. This month I hit my 50th repair, which is way more than usual for me. What surprised me was that 12 of those were just bad capacitors on the same Asus model from 2021. I almost missed this pattern because I was treating each one like a new problem. Has anyone else seen a big spike in failures from a specific motherboard batch this year?

Those 12 Asus repairs are just bad luck, not a real pattern.

Look at the math on this. How many Asus boards did you actually touch in that timeframe versus everything else you fixed? Twelve returns out of maybe fifty fifty-five Asus units is a way different story than twelve out of two thousand mixed brands, but that's still a bad ratio compared to their competitors like MSI or Gigabyte in similar volumes. A pattern is just a pattern regardless of sample size when other brands aren't coming back at anywhere near that rate.
