Just dropped $150 on a thermal camera for my phone and it already paid for itself
Had a laptop come in last week that kept shutting down after 10 minutes. The usual stuff like dust and paste looked fine. I got a FLIR One for my iPhone, and it showed a tiny voltage regulator on the board getting way hotter than anything else. Replaced that chip, and the laptop runs cool now. Without that camera, I would have spent hours guessing or just swapped the whole board. For a small shop like mine, that's a big win. What other diagnostic tools have you guys found worth the cash?

Seriously, a $150 camera for one chip? Most shops would just reflow the whole area for way less. Even @henderson.brooke's microscope sounds more useful for daily work. That's a lot of money for a rare problem.
