Took a chance on a cheap thermal camera, kinda shocked it paid off

I've always told customers to stick with the big name thermal imagers because the $150 ones seemed like toys. Last Tuesday I picked up a budget model at a shop in Austin for a duct leak hunt, and it caught the cold spot dead on. Still not gonna use it for main board work, but it earned a spot in my bag for insulation checks. Anyone else find a low cost tool that surprised them on a real job?
