Unpopular opinion: Letting people name their computers helps with support calls.
Had a customer call their PC 'Betty'. When I asked about Betty's symptoms, they relaxed and gave clear details. It turns a tense call into a chat. I suggest this for all my regulars.

Totally! Named machines like Betty just work better.

Yeah, it's like naming them changes how you treat them. You start doing the little maintenance things you used to skip, just because you feel a bit more responsible for "Betty" than for "the car". That care probably makes the real difference.

Ha, that "named machines work better" idea hits home. My buddy Mark had this ancient truck he started calling "Old Reliable". Before the name, it was just a problem that kept stalling. But after, he'd actually chat with it, saying stuff like "easy, Reliable" when starting on cold mornings. Weirdly, it seemed to have fewer issues, or maybe he just noticed them less. It definitely got him through another winter without quitting.
