Update: I thought the whole 'clean install' thing was overkill for every repair
Had a client in Tampa with a weird, slow laptop that every tool said was fine. Did a clean Windows install as a last resort after 2 hours of diagnostics. The difference was instant, like a new machine. When do you guys actually pull the trigger on a full wipe versus trying to fix the existing install?

Man, I feel this so hard. I was just like you, thinking clean installs were a last resort, but after a few of those mystery slowdowns I totally get where @terrymitchell is coming from. For me now, if the basic scans come back clean and the slowdown makes no sense, I just go for the wipe. It saves so much time arguing with Windows.

Started doing the same thing after my laptop went from fine to crawling overnight. Saves all that headache of digging through event logs or trying random fixes that never really work. At some point you just gotta accept that a fresh start is the quickest way forward.
