Ashland job changed how I treat wet joints forever
Got a call back to a parking garage in Ashland last month that we poured in April. The contractor pointed at a crack running straight down a construction joint, said his engineer blamed our cure. Thing is, we did everything by the book, 28 day test came back at 4,200 psi. Turns out the issue was we cut the joint too early, 6 hours after pour, on a hot day. Now I wait at least 10 hours or check with a knife test before I even touch the saw. Anyone else had a spec that looked fine on paper but bit you on a return visit?

Gotta love when the calendar says "done" but the concrete says "not yet," right? That 4,200 psi must feel real lonely standing next to that crack.
