Bought a $140 power trowel blade kit I never needed, here's the deal

Last month I grabbed a set of those fancy carbide blades off a supplier in Reno because I thought my old ones were dragging. Turns out my problem was just a worn-out bearing in the trowel arm, not the blades at all. I spent the whole day swapping blades out on a 12-foot slab before I figured it out, and the old blades still had plenty of life. Has anyone else dropped cash on new gear when the real fix was a cheap part? What'd you waste yours on?
