Heard a rep from a big chemical company say something that stuck with me
At a training in Phoenix last month, the guy said 'nobody ever lost a job because the concrete was too dry.' Made me rethink how tight I've been keeping my mixes lately. Anybody else find a little extra water helps on tricky pours?

Ngl I used to be all about keeping things stiff, thinking that was the only way to get a strong finish. But hearing that same kind of advice made me loosen up a bit, and honestly my pours have been way less stressful since. A little extra water can save you a lot of headache on a tricky slab.

Blew a 40 yard slab two summers ago because I thought I was being tough keeping it bone dry. Ended up with a surface that looked like the moon's backside. Ever since I started adding just that extra splash on hot days, my trowel finishes actually look like concrete and not a failed science experiment. Funny how being a little less stubborn makes you look like you actually know what you're doing.
