I overheard a foreman at a site in Phoenix say they skip the curing compound on hot days to save time. That's a huge risk.

Ever wonder why some slabs look like a dried up riverbed a year later? I used to cut corners on curing in the heat too... figured it set fast enough. Then I saw a warehouse floor we did where the top just turned to dust in spots. The whole thing had to be ground down and resealed. That lost time and money makes spraying on compound look real fast.

My old crew in Phoenix always skipped the curing step during summer pours. Seeing that exact dusting issue on a client's driveway last year finally got through to me. Now I budget the extra day for wet curing, no matter how hot it gets.

Honestly that dusting is a dead giveaway. It's like the concrete never really got strong on top. Tbh you can't rush the chemistry, it needs that water to finish the job.
