My Edger Was Cutting 3/8 Inch Too Deep For Two Years And Nobody Told Me
I was edging a driveway in Mesa last Tuesday when a guy from the city stopped and asked why every joint looked so beat up. He pointed at my blade and asked if I ever checked the depth gauge, and I had to admit I just ran it where it felt right. Pulled out the tape and I was chewing almost 3/8 inch deeper than spec the entire time, which explains why I kept getting chipped edges on every pour. Been finishing for nine years and not one guy on my crew ever called it out. How do you all set your edger depth, eyeball it or actually measure?
