Old timer at the yard told me to stop using cheap curing compound

I brushed it off cause I figured he was just stuck in his ways, but after I started using the higher grade stuff from a local supplier in Akron, my finishes are way more consistent. Has anyone else noticed a big difference switching from the cheap stuff?

Totally agree man. I was using the cheap stuff from the big box store for years and always wondered why my slabs looked blotchy and had hairline cracks popping up. Switched to a local supplier's mid grade curing compound about a year ago and the difference was night and day, way more uniform color and way less surface dusting. That old timer knew what he was talking about, the cheap stuff just doesn't have the right solids content to actually seal the concrete properly.

Yeah but nobody talks about how much water you're putting down matters just as much as the compound itself.
