Rant: The difference between a broom finish before and after the sun hits it is ridiculous

I saw a neighbor's driveway go from a perfect consistent texture to patchy crap in about 45 minutes because he waited to start finishing until 10 AM and the hot sun flash-dried half of it before he could get his broom on it, has anyone else dealt with timing a broom finish against direct sunlight?

Wait, did he start at 10 AM with the broom finish already or did he pour and finish at 10? Cause if he poured at like 8 and started finishing at 10 that's a whole different problem than starting the whole thing at 10. I've been burned by that midday sun so bad I had to grind a whole section down and redo it just to get the texture to match. What time of day do you usually try to get your broom work done in summer? I've started setting alarms for like 5 AM just to get the wet work done before the sun clears the trees.

Oh come on, is it really that dramatic? A little sun on a broom finish isn't rocket science, you just work faster or shade the slab with a tarp. I've seen guys panic over this like the concrete is gonna self-destruct in five minutes, but it usually just needs a bit of water misting to buy you time. You're overthinking a driveway, not building a spaceship.
