Stop troweling in the water and wondering why it peels

I keep seeing guys on commercial slabs in Phoenix mix the surface wet just to get a shine. Then they blame the concrete or the sealer when it dusts off six months later. I finish a 12,000 square foot warehouse floor every spring and I never add water past the first pass. If you wait for the bleed water to burn off and trowel dry, you get a hard dense surface that actually holds up. My crew did a test patch on a job off the 10 freeway last year, wet trowel side peeled in eight months, dry side still looks new. Why are we still chasing a quick mirror finish when it costs us callbacks and reputation? Anyone else seeing this on their pours?
