That inspector who measured with a tape from 1982 saved my pour
Old guy showed up at my job site in Saginaw last month. Looked like he'd been doing this since before I was born. He pulled out this worn leather tape, not the laser. Started measuring my forms on the curb lane. Said I was off by half an inch near the drain. I almost laughed. Then he showed me the grade rod reading. Water would've pooled. I re-poured that section. Cost me 3 hours and $200 in extra mix. He didn't say much after that. Just nodded when I packed up. Have you ever had an old timer catch something your new tools missed?
