Vent: My driveway apron cracked after 3 winters, neighbor's looked perfect the whole time

I poured my own driveway apron 3 years ago. Same mix I always use, 4 bag mix with fibermesh. By the third winter there were cracks all over the place. My neighbor across the street hired a crew and his looked brand new. I finally walked over and asked what they did different. Turns out they cut control joints at 4 foot intervals, not the 8 foot spacing I did. One simple change and his is still smooth as glass. Has anyone else learned a cleanup trick or finishing tip the hard way like this?

Should've listened to my dad about closer joints, learned that one the hard way too.

You're saying "learned that one the hard way" but honestly I see it different @uma306. Keeping joints closer together makes the final product feel cramped and harder to roll well, especially if you're using a filter tip. I'd rather have a bit more space and a looser pack so it burns even.
