Vent: Used to just eyeball my mix ratios until a slab cracked in half last summer

Now I measure every batch with a bucket and scale after that 6x8 patio split clean down the middle three days after I poured it - anyone else have a failure that made you change your whole process?

My grandpa used to say the same thing about pouring concrete in his barn back in '82... he'd mix by the bucket and weigh every load on an old bathroom scale. Said it beat guessing and having to patch up a weak spot later on. Makes you wonder how many jobs got saved by just paying attention to the details.
