Finally hit my 10th deposition without messing up the exhibit numbering

It took me about 18 months of doing corporate litigation support to get here. My first few depositions I fumbled with marking exhibits and had the court reporter give me that look. But last Tuesday in a conference room downtown, I got through 47 exhibits without a single mix up. The opposing counsel actually complimented how clean my binder was organized. It felt good because I remember my first case where I handed the wrong tab to a witness. That little milestone matters because it shows I am getting the hang of the workflow. Anyone else have a moment where you finally felt like you knew what you were doing in a deposition setting?

Man that's a huge milestone, congrats. Took me about two years to finally feel like I wasn't guessing through most of the deposition process. My big moment was when I caught myself before handing over the wrong exhibit and just smoothly swapped it out... nobody even noticed. The court reporter even complimented my pace later. It's weird how something like exhibit numbering can make you feel like a real pro, but it really does.

You ever have one of those moments where you just feel like everything clicks? For me @ivan82, it was finally getting the hang of reading body language during depositions. I used to just focus on the transcript, but once I started watching witnesses shift in their seats or avoid eye contact, it changed everything. Noticed I could prep better for objections and even catch myself before a mistake, like you did with the exhibit swap. It's funny how small things like that make you feel like you actually know what you're doing after all that time fumbling around.
