Found out the average class action settlement takes 3-4 years to finalize

I was digging through some SEC filings last night for a case I'm watching, and I stumbled on a stat that surprised me. Turns out the average securities class action settlement takes between 3 and 4 years from filing to payout. That's way longer than I thought, especially when you see lawyers getting fees approved after just 18 months of work. I found it in a Stanford Law School study on securities class actions. Made me wonder how many small investors just give up waiting. Has anyone else seen delays like this in their own cases?

$8.47 is honestly generous compared to what I got from that Yahoo data breach settlement. Six year wait and I scored a whopping $2.14. Made me feel like a real baller. I spent it on a gas station coffee that was probably cheaper than my hourly wage for all the time I spent filling out forms. The lawyers probably took home more in billable hours than the entire class combined.

My buddy was in a class action over some phone battery thing back in 2019. He just got his check last month - $8.47, lol. Made me wonder if all that waiting even matters for most people.
