What exactly did the non-compete say? Those things are a total minefield. I've seen people get sued just for working in the same town. Eighteen months is a long time to have that hanging over you.

35% of people don't even read the full contract before signing. Ngl your lawyer should've flagged how vague that clause was right from the start.
