I was digging through old case files from the 90s and found something wild...
Back in 1998, the average corporate lawsuit took about 18 months from filing to trial. Now I see discovery phases dragging on for 3 or 4 years in state court in Ohio. Has anyone else noticed cases just grinding to a halt like this?

Are you seeing that mostly in state court cases or is federal court dragging just as bad? I've got a buddy who does defense work up in Cuyahoga County and he was telling me about a product liability case from 2019 that still hasn't even set a trial date yet. The judge keeps extending discovery for some expert witness stuff that seems like it could have been wrapped up in a year. Is Ohio especially bad or is this happening across the whole country now?

That's brutal, man. Feels like the whole system is stuck in molasses.
