Our company's legal bills went from $15k a quarter to over $80k in a single year.

We used to handle small contract disputes in-house, but after a major supplier sued us for breach last January, everything changed. Now our outside counsel is involved in every tiny email chain, and the meter is always running. How do smaller shops even survive this kind of legal cost creep?

Consider this a cheap lesson in risk management. That supplier lawsuit proved your old way was a ticking clock. Paying for real legal cover now beats losing your whole company later.

Is it possible you're just overreacting to one bad scare? That jump is huge, but maybe you could find a middle ground instead of having lawyers on every single email.
