PSA: Stopped dumping every email exhibit into a single timeline and started tagging them by subject instead
I realized I was wasting hours during discovery prep after a senior paralegal pointed out that my jumbled email chain spreadsheet was basically useless for actually finding anything during a deposition prep call last Tuesday, has anyone else had to redo their entire document organization system after one of those moments?

Color coding is just asking for a whole new set of problems when you get colorblind like I am on conference calls and have to squint at someone's neon green on yellow disaster... People act like a system is a system until you have to explain it to someone else and they just stare at you. Mixing tags with colors sounds good until you're on hour three of a deposition prep and realize your "red" means "from the client" but someone else labeled it "urgent" and now you're both wrong. This is why I stick to just putting the subject line in the body of the email and calling it a day, not my fault if they can't find it.

Read this thing from a litigator who said she started color coding subject lines in her review software. Saved her like 40% on motion prep time. Might be worth a shot mixing tags with a simple color system.
