Serious question, how long did it take you to find one missing email in a document dump?

We got hit with a document request in a contract case and I had to review about 40,000 emails looking for one approval thread. I figured a keyword search would do it, but the terms kept pulling up garbage because the guy wrote 'ok' and nothing else. Ended up going line by line for six days straight at my desk in Columbus before I found it buried in a reply chain with a changed subject line. Now I always check for subject line edits first, not keywords. How do you all handle custodians who refuse to write real sentences?
