Tried AI document review vs old school paralegal review for a 5000 page contract dump

Ngl, I was skeptical of using AI for doc review in our last big case. We had about 5000 pages of contracts to go through for a due diligence thing. My buddy at another firm swore by their AI tool, so I split the work: 2500 pages with us using a service and 2500 with our two paralegals. The AI flagged 83 potential issues in 4 hours, but we found 6 false positives and missed 2 key clauses the paralegals caught. The paralegals took 3 days but missed nothing. Honestly, I think the AI is great for a first pass but you still need human eyes for nuance. Has anyone else had a similar experience mixing tech and people on a big document review?

Yeah a buddy of mine tried that AI thing and had a ton of false flags too.

See, I actually had the opposite outcome with mine - the AI caught a few things our paralegals glossed over because they were tired by page 4000. No tool's perfect but that speed difference matters when you're up against a tight deadline.
