Vent: I spent 90 minutes re-reading a vendor contract before noticing the clause that killed us
So our firm got hit with a surprise $12,000 penalty from a software vendor last month. I was furious, went back through the original agreement we signed 18 months ago. Sat there for an hour and a half squinting at the fine print. Turns out there was a hidden auto renewal clause buried on page 14, right below a bunch of boilerplate about data security. I always skimmed those sections before but never actually read every word. Now I'm going through every active contract line by line. Anybody else got burned by a clause they missed in the tiny text?

Did your lawyer miss it or did you sign without one?

Gotta read what you sign, man.

Yeah "gotta read what you sign" is solid advice. I read somewhere that most people just scroll to the bottom and click agree without looking at half the stuff they're signing up for.
