Fell for that $200 "professional" styling tool off Instagram

Bought this fancy hair straightener from an ad because it claimed to have "ion technology" and it just melted my test strand. Lost $200 but at least I tested it on a mannequin head first, anyone else get burned by social media marketing?

My sister bought this "viral" hair waver from Instagram that was supposed to give beach waves without heat damage. She tried it on her silk pillowcase to test it first and it actually left a weird burnt plastic smell that took days to air out. That whole experience taught me to just stick with my drugstore curling iron that costs twenty bucks and actually works.

The real trap is how these ads use fake before/after photos that look nothing like real hair results. Saw one for a "ceramic" brush that claimed to smooth frizz in seconds, but it was just a cheap plastic brush with a heating element that literally caught fire during the first use. Those influencers pushing these products probably never even tried them on their own hair.
