Finally did my first full color correction without calling my mentor for help

I started at this booth 3 years ago and last week a client sat down with that messy brassy orange from a box dye. Instead of panicking I just mapped out the sections and lifted tone in 45 minutes flat. Anyone else hit a milestone that made you feel like you finally know what you're doing?

Three months ago I paid $180 for a balayage that looked like I'd been wrestling a bottle of mustard. Did you use foils or just paint it on freehand? I keep seeing these TikTok videos where they use cotton candy pink and it turns out perfect but mine always looks muddy near the roots. Also what developer did you use because that's the part where I always panic and grab the wrong bottle.
