Guy at the beauty supply in Phoenix grabbed my wrist and told me I was holding my shears wrong
I was at a supply spot off Camelback about 8 years ago buying color and this older stylist watched me test a pair of shears on my pinky. He walked over, took my hand, and said "you're squeezing the life out of them, that's why your hand cramps by 2pm." He made me hold them with just my thumb and ring finger and do a dry cut on a mannequin head sitting on the shelf. I fought him on it at first because 5 years of school and floor work had me gripping tight for control. Two clients later that day my hand didn't ache for the first time in years. I still do it his way and my shears last way longer between sharpens. Any of you ever had a random person correct your grip or posture and it actually stuck?
