Had a client meltdown last month that made me completely change my booking system

I was at my booth in a salon in Atlanta when this woman showed up 45 minutes late for her balayage appointment. She was really upset I couldn't take her anymore but I had 2 other clients booked after her. That whole day got thrown off and I ended up working an hour past closing. After that I started putting a 15 minute grace period in my online booking software with an automatic cancellation if they're later. Has anyone else switched to strict time windows after a bad experience?

Yeah but 15 minutes feels kinda harsh though doesn't it?

Gotta push back on that honestly. 15 minutes is barely anything when you look at how many people abuse the system and make late cancellations that screw over small businesses. Most therapists and doctors have waitlists a mile long, so if someone cancels last minute that slot could have gone to someone who actually needed it. Plus most places let you reschedule for free if you give proper notice, so 15 minutes is just a small penalty to teach people to be more considerate.
