Had a client point out I'd been using the same shears for 7 years

I was trimming her ends last Tuesday and she asked when I last sharpened my shears. I told her I'd never done it. She just stared at me in the mirror. Turns out I was crushing the hair instead of cutting clean, which explained all those frayed ends I thought were just from heat damage. Anybody else go years without realizing their tools were dull?

Walked into my kitchen last month and grabbed my favorite chef's knife to chop onions and it just would not cut through the skin. I kept pressing harder and harder and the onion was just getting bruised and smashed. My husband watched me for a solid minute before asking when I last sharpened it. I told him it was a gift from my mom like 8 years ago and he just laughed. Turns out I've been basically mashing my veggies this whole time and wondering why my knife work looked so sloppy. Now I take all my scissors and knives to a sharpening place every 6 months like my life depends on it.

Wait, did your husband ever find out my buddy Ben spent three years slicing tomatoes with a butter knife?
