My client swore by that $80 leave-in spray from Sephora for years
I finally tried it on a whim last Tuesday and it left her fine hair looking greasier than the fry station at a diner, so has anyone else had a high-end product totally backfire on a specific hair type?

Wait, was she using it on wet or dry hair when she applied it? That makes a huge difference with leave-in sprays. Also did she try putting it on just the ends or was she spraying it all the way up to the roots? Because that would totally explain the greasy mess you saw.

Ugh, I feel this so hard. I had almost the exact same thing happen with a fancy leave-in spray that was supposed to be "weightless" but just turned my hair into a limp, oily mess by lunchtime. It's honestly frustrating because you trust that a higher price tag means it'll work better, but sometimes it's just not made for fine hair at all. I've had way better luck with a cheap drugstore detangler, which feels backward but that's just how it goes. It's like some of these luxury brands forget not everyone has thick, coarse hair that can handle all that extra moisture.
