Rant: My client told me my highlights looked "muddy" and I was salty about it for a week
She said the warm tones near my roots clashed with the cool ends, so I started using a darker base shade first. Now I'm getting way more compliments, but man it hurt hearing it at the time - has anyone else had a customer point out a flaw that actually made you better?

Wait, did you really change your whole process just because one client said something? I get that it hurt your feelings, but "muddy" is a legit critique when it comes to warm roots going into cool ends. That's like a color theory thing, and she was probably trying to help you out in a nice way. It's good that you're getting more compliments now, but I don't think clients pointing out flaws is always a bad thing - sometimes they see stuff we miss because we're too close to our own work. You gotta seperate the sting from the actual feedback, because it sounds like she was right.
