Shoutout to the salon in Portland that still uses old school hot rollers

I tried their set up and then used my usual digital curling iron on the same client, same hair type. The hot rollers gave a softer, longer lasting wave that held through humidity way better. My Revlon iron at 380 degrees just can't match that volume at the roots. Anyone else find some older tools still win out for certain styles?

Honestly though, is the difference that huge for a client walking out the door? They both make curls. My cheap wand from the drugstore does the job fine and heats up in 30 seconds.
