Switched to a fine-tooth comb for sectioning and it saved me 20 minutes per client

I always used those big rat-tail combs for sectioning because I thought they were faster. But last week a stylist I used to work with stopped by the salon and watched me struggle on a thick curly perm. She handed me her fine-tooth comb and said try this for parting, it grabs every hair. I did it on the next three clients and I was way more accurate especially on tight curls. The sections came out cleaner and I finished the whole service in about 20 minutes less than usual. Has anyone else found that switching combs changed their sectioning game for certain hair types?

Yeah it grabs every hair" - that's the part that got me. I tried my wife's fine tooth comb on a tight curl client last week and holy shit the sections were actually clean. No stray hairs crossing over, no redoing parts. Took me like 15 mins less on a perm and the curl pattern looked way more even at the end.

Disagree completely. Fine tooth combs just slide through thick curly hair without actually catching the roots, leaving flyaways everywhere. Been using a rattail for 15 years and my sections are clean every time, no extra minutes needed.
