TIL the hard way that keratin treatments don't last on highlighted hair

Spent $180 on a professional keratin smoothing treatment at a salon in Austin last month. My stylist said it would work great since my hair is highlighted. Three washes later, the frizz was back worse than before. Turns out the chemicals in bleach break down the keratin bonds way faster. Anyone else get burned by this or did I just pick the wrong product?

Got a Brazilian blowout once at a salon in Portland for $250. My hair is naturally wavy, not even dyed. The lady told me it would last four months. I washed my hair twice and it was back to a frizzy bird's nest within a week. Turns out I have hard water at home. The minerals just stripped it right out. Bought a shower filter after that, helped a little but not much.

Had the same thing happen with my keratin treatment, $300 down the drain in like two weeks cause my apartment has the worst hard water ever. But hey at least your hair probably looked bomb for those two washes lol

Yeah I read that hard water wrecks treatments too, @the_fiona had the same issue with hers.
