Appreciation post: The new guy at the yard in Omaha kept trying to swing the load with the trolley instead of the boom and it drives me up a wall.
I had to show him three times on a 150-ton lift that a smooth boom swing is the only way to keep your load from spinning like a top, so when did everyone stop teaching basic load control?

We had a new kid on a bridge girder job last spring who kept trying to steer with the trolley. I finally had to shut it down and explain how the load's center of gravity works with the boom's arc. It took watching a steel beam almost clip a light pole for it to click. Feels like some of these quick cert programs are just pushing bodies through without the real hands-on time.
