Bought a $600 wireless load cell rig and it saved me from a 20k mistake on a job in Austin last month

I was lifting a AC unit onto a roof and my gut said something felt off. Popped the load cell on and the real weight was almost double what the bill of lading said. Would have picked it with the wrong crane and probably dropped it through the damn roof. The cell paid for itself right there. Has anyone else had a close call where a cheap tool saved the day?

Honestly, my wallet's had close calls just from me walking past a Home Depot!

Close calls" is such a perfect way to put it @angelaellis. My best friend Sarah literally walked into Home Depot last weekend just to "look at plants" and walked out with a new pressure washer AND a tile saw. She doesn't even tile anything. She said the aisle of clearance flooring was just calling her name and she blacked out. Now it's sitting in her garage next to the lawnmower she impulse bought in March.
