Chose to leave the outrigger mats in the truck instead of setting them last Friday, and I paid for it
Had a pour at a site off Highway 9 and the ground looked packed enough so I skipped the mats to save 20 minutes. Halfway through swinging a 3,000 lb load the right rear outrigger started sinking into what turned out to be soft fill dirt. I felt the whole rig lean maybe two inches and my stomach dropped, killed the swing and got the load down fast. Spent the next hour digging out and cribbing it right while the super just stared at me. Anyone else got a close call that made them swear off skipping the mats no matter how solid the dirt looks?
