Crawler vs. truck crane for tight urban jobs - I'm picking crawler every time

I worked a job in downtown Seattle last month where we had to lift HVAC units onto a 12 story roof. Everyone kept saying truck crane was the way to go for street work. But after 3 tries getting positioned with outriggers on a narrow side street, I had to switch to my crawler. The truck crane could barely set up without blocking traffic for 2 blocks. My crawler crawled into a tiny alley, set up in 15 minutes, and had the first unit up by lunch. The ground pressure was lower too so no damage to the pavement. Has anyone else had better luck with crawlers for cramped city sites?

Truck crane had me blocking a whole street in Portland last week. Crawler all the way.

Sounds like a real mess, @simonbell. I bet that truck crane had everyone in Portland honking and cussing you out before they realized you were just doing your job. Hope you at least had a good playlist to get through the chaos. Crawlers are usually the smarter move in tight spots anyway-less road rage involved when you're not blocking lanes for hours. Nothing worse than being the guy everybody blames for their delayed coffee run. At least the crawler can probably get out of the way faster once the job's done.
